Amazon is seeking a proven technology leader to lead development and testing of automation technologies to help Scale product. The Design for Scale Reliability Engineer supports Amazon Mechatronics and sustainable packaging Engineering in the development and testing of Robotics/Mechatronics systems, Packaging Automation, and Sortation systems. This position requires the ability to innovate, analyze, plan, organize, implement, and manage process and reliability improvement projects to maximize safe, economical, and effective use of materials, energy, and people.
In order to join our robotics development center team, we are searching for an outstanding hardware reliability test engineer technical program manager. This role follows the product's reliability lifecycle from concept development, hardware reliability testing and confirming and improving product confidence in hardware reliability. You will work with many teams with lots of ambiguity in order to manage growth of product. This role requires the ability to maintain a high pace to complete projects and to handle different teams with a clear understanding of the goal of reliability from the early stages.
Key job responsibilities
Define reliability test requirements for Mechanical, electrical at component and sub-assembly/module/subsystem level in development.
Owning reliability test planning with product design and development teams.
Identifying tests and Managing test plan creation in collaboration reliability engineering and product development design teams.
Owning test execution (Component, subassemble, module level) in collaboration with internal and external testing labs and engineering teams.
Able to Facilitate Design/System Facilitate Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) sessions in order to drive reliable design choices and improve verification and validation test planning.
Set and communicate reliability requirements and targets for products, subsystems, and components to product designers
Analyze usage and environmental conditions from the field in order to improve requirement setting and testing methods.
Evaluate and Apply statistical analysis to test (accelerated life) and field (life) data.
Effective collaboration with Design and Reliability engineers to define/interpret/validate/report numeric models of fielded and in-test products.
Establish best practice on sample size requirements and duration for reliability testing.
Communicate reliability risk at each phase of product development and path forward with planned test ,verification plans in collaboration with design and development teams.
Facilitate failure analysis prioritization meetings to prioritize root cause analysis and drive resolution during product development.
Influence supplier selection for higher reliability and provide clear guidance on reliability requirements and demonstration to suppliers.
Establish and lead continuous improvement and strategic initiatives topic for reliability engineering.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Strong Working knowledge of Reliability principles including reliability prediction, accelerated testing, failure analysis and statistical analysis.
- Working knowledge of designing and executing reliability tests, analyzing data and reporting.
- Working knowledge of testing techniques such as environmental testing (Temrature, vibration, humidity, cycle, Stress, Shock) Mechanical testing, electrical testing.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate across cross functional teams, including design, manufacturing, quality engineers and Product Managers.
- Willing to travel, up to 40%
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Physics engineering and or a related technical field of Hardware reliability testing
- 7+ years work experience in engineering, product development hardware reliability testing.
- Experience with defining, performing and co-coordinating multiple hardware, electrical reliability testing
- Experience with influencing, negotiating and communicating across multiple organization levels internal and externally.
- Experience managing detailed schedules and cross functional teams.
- Excellent presentation and writing skills, dynamic approach with the ability to translate theory into practical application.
- Understanding of Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and MS Project), AutoCAD, and statistical analysis tools.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market.
