We are looking for a product design leader to drive end-to-end ad experiences – reaching customers where they shop, read, listen, and watch.

In this role, you’ll lead (and grow) a high-performing team of UX professionals—working collaboratively with user research, engineering, and product management through all aspects of the product development life-cycle. This includes ownership of: (1) New ad placements and formats integrated in Amazon devices, entertainment properties, online and physical stores; (2) Brand shopping experiences, including Brand Stores, Posts, and Brand Follow; (3) Creative authoring tools within the Amazon Ad console, and the Amazon Demand Side Platform; and (4) The underlying services and tools that allow assets to be created/captured, categorized, and syndicated.

You will build durable partnerships with teams across Amazon to drive collaboration and innovation—ensuring that ads are an integrated part of evolving experiences. Partners include, core shopping, devices and entertainment (e.g., Prime Video, Alexa, FireTV, Twitch, Freevee), and physical stores (e.g., Fresh). You will also directly influence long-term strategy and set the company vision, for the consumer experience for ad products worldwide ensuring they are relevant, useful and delighting.


Key job responsibilities
- Responsibly and effectively advocate for customers; imparting strategic design leadership that fosters a shared understanding of the customer-centric intersection between design, content, business and technology needs.
- Raises the bar on design quality, end-to-end process and deliverables. Spending majority of time on the overarching portfolio strategy, negotiating priorities, and driving clear solutions with cross-functional product and tech directors.
- Drives the mechanisms used by the design team to get alignment on customer problems and product vision. Creates scalable systems that enable federation of design work.
- Works proactively through the ambiguity of understanding customer needs, defining new products, and applying new technologies. Can bring structure to ambiguity or uncertainty. Ensure the resulting experiences are simple, clear, and compelling.
- Stays on the cutting edge of what’s new in technology and UX, leading the team to experiment with new promising tech and interaction patterns.
- Maintains healthy relationships with partners and stakeholders in locations around the world; prioritizes based on customer need, not internal interests; exhibit excellent judgment and resolve challenging issues to move the product forward.
- Invest heavily in the development and growth of a diverse team of design leaders. Create a culture of inclusion and creativity.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 15+ years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, product designer or similar role designing mobile, web, and/or other applications
- An online portfolio of work demonstrating experience creating great user-centered design solutions across desktop and mobile devices
- Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills
- Proven experience with rapid, iterative design and development processes
- Proven track record presenting to and influencing people, from other designers to senior executive management
- Experience leading projects in a collaborative multi-disciplinary team including designers, web developers, writers, product managers and software developers
- Fluency in best practices for multimodal experiences and design, as well as strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques
- Bachelor’s, or equivalent degree, in Design, HCI, or related field or equivalent professional experience within the design field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 10+ years of experience successfully leading and managing design teams of 40+
- Excellent bias for action including the ability to juggle multiple priorities and effectively deliver in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Be willing to roll up the sleeves to meet business and product deliverables
- Design operations experience required to drive organizational design, product roadmaps, project planning, and resource prioritization
- Possess excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills
- Experience with advertising products and technology

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $216,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $322,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
