The Decision Science team owns demand estimates and pricing recommendations of concept devices before customers know they exist. We support over 100 device-specific analyses a year on hardware and services ranging from Echo Frames to Kindle Paperwhite to Blink Video Camera. We apply science models to multi-million dollar, one-way door decisions. The successful candidate will excel at exploring and simplifying internal customer business problems, and delivering deliver solutions to those problems that can eventually scale to self service tools.
Key job responsibilities
As a Data Scientist III at Amazon Devices, you will play a crucial role in shaping our product strategy and launch plans through advanced pre-launch forecasting and customer segmentation analysis. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Develop and execute sophisticated conjoint surveys to gather critical consumer insights for upcoming device launches.
- Build and refine demand models using conjoint survey data and historical sales information to produce accurate pre-launch forecasts for new Amazon devices.
- Lead the advancement of customer segmentation analysis, identifying key characteristics and behaviors of device purchasers across different product lines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Management, Marketing, and Finance to translate data-driven insights into actionable strategies for product development and go-to-market plans.
- Design and implement machine learning algorithms to enhance the accuracy of demand forecasts and improve customer segment identification.
- Stay current with the latest developments in data science techniques, particularly in the areas of conjoint analysis, demand modeling, and customer segmentation.
- Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the overall growth of the data science practice within Amazon Devices.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience
- 4+ years of data scientist experience
- Experience with statistical models e.g. multinomial logistic regression
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, data science, business analytics, economics, finance, engineering, or computer science
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience as a leader and mentor on a data science team
- Master's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, data science, business analytics, economics, finance, engineering, or computer science

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $143,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
