In September 2018 we launched our first full-scale live streaming experience to all of our world-wide Prime customers with NFL’s Thursday Night Football. In just a year, we delivered multi-game watching experience to our Prime Video customers in UK for English Premier League . That was just the start. We are looking for Software Development Manager for our team in Seattle, WA, to build innovative solutions for customer to engage and experience live content. This is a transformative opportunity, the chance to be at the vanguard of a program that will change live streaming experiences for customers everywhere. In this role you will work across our distributed engineering team in building a wide variety of services that integrates with the broader Prime Video ecosystem to deliver low-latency, high TPS services. Key job responsibilities
* Prioritize being a great people manager. Building, motivating, rewarding and coaching a diverse team of Software Development Engineers is the most important part of this role. You will recruit and retain top talent and excel in day-to-day people and performance management tasks.
* Keep your technical skills current to contribute to architecture and design discussions. Lead your team to evolve our service architecture with quality, robustness and Amazon sized scale as top priorities. You will regularly take part in deep-dive troubleshooting exercises and drive technical post-mortem discussions to identify the root cause of complex issues.
* Be a guardian of world-class customer experience for your deliverables: continually raise the bar on functionality, flow, consistency, usability, and simplicity
* Set a vision for your team and create product roadmaps. Help your team sort out technical and product requirements and priorities. Use project management skills to deliver product roadmap items and other cross-team projects.
* Contribute to and lead design, architecture, process and development discussions
* Engage, liaise and broker necessary partnerships and cross-org commitments with dependency teams, from clients through playback through backend asset management systems
* Drives strategic communication across senior leadership, understanding the strategic importance of software to the larger business
* Represent the technical team to senior leadership across the company
* Help make the right feature trade-offs to ship software without compromising customer experience and business relevance

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product and program management teams
- Experience delivering products against plan in a fast-paced, multi-disciplined, distributed-responsibility and often ambiguous environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
