Amazon is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Software Development Manager (SDM) to join the A to Z team. The A to Z Scaled Services team works on connecting the next generation of employees with the tools and services they need to thrive through Amazon, and thinks ahead in the space to bring more stronger foundations to delight our growing customers of different personas. We are responsible for building ideas from inception to delivery and own the federated developer experience and foundational tech stacks which brings businesses and their developers from across Amazon to positively impact to our Customers. We work across diverse web and mobile technologies to deliver the delighting experience for our customers on time and raise the bar on engineering excellence.

The ideal candidate will have a background in computer science, have an affinity to being a leader, have experience running software teams with Agile methodologies, and experience owning a product roadmap for shipping software.

Key job responsibilities
The Software Development Manager of this team will be responsible for managing the team’s roadmap, creating innovating culture to bring ideas to delight our customers, working with product managers in shaping the ideas to a fine product features, working with diverse stakeholders to deliver the right things at the right time, reviewing design/architectures, guiding team with right technical choices and hiring & creating right opportunities to grow the team.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience in engineering team management
- Experience in engineering
- Experience in leading the definition and development of multi tier web services
- Experience partnering with product and program management teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
