We are seeking a passionate software engineer who wants to build high quality mission critical software and reusable software libraries to help shape the future of eBooks. You will contribute to the definition, development, integration, test, documentation, and support of Kindle applications across multiple digital surfaces.


Key job responsibilities
- Significant autonomous contributor to the full software development lifecycle, including scoping, design, code, testing, deployment and maintenance of your team's software.
- Deliver innovative and simple software solutions, working with and improving on current limitations and compatibilities between subsystems, building new concepts and methodology, and the development of major routines and utilities.
- Define technical requirements and software design specifications as needed to meet business requirements.
- Partner with all stakeholders and your peers to understand the business and customer value of your team’s software in order to ensure you deliver the right solutions
- Leverage best practices for software development and documentation to make sure designs meet requirements and we are able to deliver high quality software.

We are the owners for software that supports e-book readers on all major mobile surfaces and on Kindle devices. We enjoy working together as a team and welcome the opportunity to lead whenever possible. We leverage product ideas to establish technical design for simple but innovative solutions. We deliver highest quality experiences to our customers to enable best reading experience across operating systems and devices.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
