We are seeking a Senior Creative Director to join the Product and Design team at Amazon Photos. In this role, you will collaborate with a high number of senior stakeholders from Design, Product, and Marketing teams to shape Amazon Photos’ product strategies and translate them into compelling creative assets and impactful visual experiences. This role requires strong visual and interaction expertise, experienced design practice, and ownership to influence the long-term vision where you might not even know what the problem is before starting.
The ideal candidate must be an independent thinker and be comfortable working with complex problem statements that require agile and bar-raising creative solutioning. They should be able to break down a creative vision into strategically nuanced beats and ideas. The Senior Creative Director should be extremely good at providing articulate and clear creative direction in ambiguity, have ability to distill stakeholder and customer feedback, and manage large scale design initiatives.
Key job responsibilities
- Define and drive the UX vision for new categories and concepts that impact Amazon Photos customers and roadmaps.
- Operationalize customer-obsessed concept explorations.
- Lead concept development in ideation sessions and design reviews.
- Create customer journeys and use cases in storyboards, wireframes, visual mockups, and interactive prototypes that define the product vision.
- Identify user research needs for ideation and validation.
- Evangelize concepts and design to diverse audiences within Amazon Photos and across Amazon.
- Use business requirements, market research, and customer feedback to assist in developing scenarios, use cases, and high-level requirements.
- Dive deep on consumer insights, product analytics, and competitive intelligence to drive product innovation.
- Identify opportunities to invent and experiment with new technology and interaction patterns.
- Mentoring and developing the design talent primarily within Amazon Photos Design.
A day in the life
Day-to-day, you will contribute to the team's efforts to think big and explore new ideas. You will invent and simplify to turn potential and preferable future thinking into tangible solutions and experiences for customers whenever possible.
You'll do this by delivering high-quality prototypes, visually-forward concept videos, interaction and visual design patterns, collaborating closely with other designers, product, and engineering teams.
You will work to identify, define, and help establish best practices within the organization and the broader design community to unify design processes, foster innovation and improve efficiency.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 15+ years of design experience
- An available online portfolio
- Experience in life cycle design projects from design strategy through execution
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with best practices for User Interface Design, Information Architecture, and Interaction Design
- Experience in visual design with ability to produce fresh, simple, elegant and exceedingly usable layouts and interactions and iconography
- Experience providing and effectively communicating strategic and tactical recommendations based on data
- Experience designing and prototyping with tools such as Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, Axure, Keynote, and InVision
- Experience with consumer brands and experience design, and a passion for storytelling

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $147,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $244,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
