• Creates design documentation for new and existing store concepts in an innovative yet fiscally responsible way.
• Understands how to bring a concept to life in the built environment by creating design documentation that can be implemented by internal and external design and construction partners.
• Manages projects with high levels of ambiguity and complexity, frequently navigating change.
• Works upstream of project teams to develop viable programmatic concepts and design solutions.
• Communicates effectively with cross-functional stakeholders across different businesses to ensure your design solutions are thoughtful and meet both business and our customer needs.
• Translate Brand, Marketing, Merchandising, Operations, Tech and User Experience requirements into cohesive design solutions and drive alignment across functional groups.
• Drives the conceptual design process working with key internal and external stakeholders to create comprehensive drawing packages, specifications, prototypes and conduct first article reviews.
• Writes program documents that drive new innovations, outlines testing/analysis to inform design decisions and define standards and processes.
• Shares information about key learnings and best practices with team members in a comprehensive, concise and engaging way.
• Creates presentation packages to communicate design and conducts design review meetings with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
• Coordinates with Estimating and Construction teams on budget considerations and value engineering as required.
• Defines appropriate trade-down solutions driving alignment across stakeholders and creates documentation of these for implementation teams to leveraged across projects.
• Able to weigh short- and long-term cost considerations to suggest alternative design approaches based on industry standards, sustainability, knowledge of color, material, finish, operational, maintenance and procurement capabilities.
• Demonstrates flexibility and adaptable to changing work environment, effectively dealing with varying workload requirements; can shift gears comfortably, manages competing demands, delays or unexpected events.
• Not afraid to fail and share learning for maximum benefit across the design studio.
• Actively works to create an inclusive and collaborative studio environment.
• Expect 30% travel
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior or industrial design
- 8+ years of commercial interior design or architecture work experience
- Experience working across all design phase from Concept Development through Construction Administration
- Grocery design or Restaurant Retail Required
- Revit Skills Required
- Experience with building and health codes, sustainability, 3D visualization
- Ability to communicate design vision in visual, written, and verbal formats
- Ability to work effectively in an extremely fast paced, ambiguous environment
- Proven track record of owning project from start to finish; self-starter and self-directed
- Proactive and flexible attitude; willingness to take an “all hands-on deck” approach

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $192,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
