Key job responsibilities
Our QA Engineers (QAEs) develop and implement effective test strategies to assess system quality through test planning, case design, execution, and automation. As a QAE, you will play a key role in the design, coding, deployment, and post-deployment phases. You will implement and manage quality gates for code changes, ensuring that user experience is maintained or improved while facilitating early and consistent issue discovery for developers.
QAEs test code at the user level, both manually and using automated tools. They operate in a grey box environment, understanding software internals, debugging problems with log files, and writing automated tests in Java, Python, or similar scripting languages.
QAEs collaborate with Software Development Engineers to understand features and technical implementations. They also work with Product Management, User Interaction, and Customer Support teams to understand customer usage models, developing test plans and suites that reflect real-world environments. Additionally, they create regression tests and drive the software development process towards quality-centric methodologies.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of quality assurance engineering experience
- BS degree in computer science or equivalent, or 4+ years of technical work experience
- Experience in automation testing
- Experience in manual testing
- Experience scripting or coding
- Experience as QA lead on medium to large sized projects
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with at least one automated test framework like Selenium or Appium
- Experience in gathering test requirements to create detailed test plans and defining quality metrics to measure product quality

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $102,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
