The Engineering Senior Manager will report to the Senior Asset & Retail Manager (AR&M) within the GREF Finance Team. The AR&M team is searching for an innovative and solutions-oriented candidate who is able to collaborate effectively with internal and external technical teams and stakeholders, and be responsible for the maintenance and improvement of the portfolio’s building systems.
In this role you will be responsible for working with internal customers to define highly ambiguous problem statements, evaluating innovation and retrofit scopes, and driving project schedules.
The successful candidate will possess a strong engineering and program management background, have demonstrated experience leading capital improvement projects across a variety of asset types, and a well-rounded technical background in property management (PM) systems. The candidate must be able to thrive and succeed in an innovative environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. While you will work at a strategic level, you must also know when to roll up your sleeves and get the job done.
Key job responsibilities
Work with the Asset & Retail Management team to address retrofit and innovation projects and drive proper solutions to help improve system capabilities
- Evaluate solutions effectively and make decisions that balance business value and technology risk
- Help your customers and the engineering teams make appropriate trade-offs by considering the larger picture (e.g., business goals, throughput expectations, quality requirements, efficiency, maintainability, operability)
- Work with cross-functional stakeholders to operationalize sustainability initiatives driven by GREF and Amazon-wide goals and local code/law
- Work with vendor teams to develop and implement R&M and CAPEX budgets across the portfolio
- Identify standards and drive consistent application of engineering SOPs and changes throughout the portfolio
- Identify areas of risk and opportunity within the portfolio. Pinpoint potential opportunities for improvement and/or cost saving, always considering how they may impact the customer and communicating these impacts to stakeholders.
- Foster strong relationships with GREF and Amazon business line partners(e.g., EHSS, Innovation Teams, Contracts/Transactions, Legal, etc.) for alignment on Asset Management strategies and implementation of broader GREF/Amazon initiatives.
- Effectively work in a matrix reporting structure and ensure mechanisms for knowledge-sharing across regions and organizations
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 8+ years of building engineering experience in an urban, Class A real estate environment
• 5+ years of experience and competence utilizing commercial real estate software and asset tracking tools
• Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
• Proficiency in developing budgets and driving vendor performance to meet client expectations
• Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams through influence vs. direct management
• Bachelor’s degree in related field

• Demonstrate confidence with legal terms and structures applicable to standard commercial contracts
• A track record of championing speed, flexibility and frugality in the face of rapid change and significant workload

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $119,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $192,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
