This role is highly impactful, overseeing the development of all models powering the identification and remediation mechanisms above to resolution. In leading the science team, you will collaborate with multiple partner teams (Product, Engineering, Program, Finance) and are responsible for:
- Setting the scientific vision/ Roadmap
- Establishing scientific culture and standards for all the scientists (including publication, and time for innovation)
- Delivering technical solutions in collaboration with Product and Engineering partners
- Hire and develop top technical talent (recruitment, skill development, etc.).
In this role you have the opportunity to work on a variety of ML and engineering challenges (scale, latency, tools and tech), and be given the flexibility to continually learn new skills.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of scientists or machine learning engineers management experience
- Knowledge of ML, NLP, Information Retrieval and Analytics
- PhD in Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science,or related technical discipline
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application
- Experience building complex software systems, especially involving deep learning, machine learning and computer vision, that have been successfully delivered to customers
- * Extensive knowledge and practical experience in ML, NLP, Information Retrieval and Analytics
- * Proficient in a programming language
- * Track record of scientific publications
- * Proven management experience hiring and growing top talent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $165,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $286,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
