This role is on the AWS Infrastructure team. We provide end-to-end financial support driving AWS to be the low cost provider in Cloud computing and leader in customer experience. This includes supporting business owners in building, operating and innovating our Cloud data centers. We support operations, business development, and engineering. You should be passionate about producing financial analysis enabling management to make breakthrough decisions, drive cash flow, and ultimately delight our customers.


Specifically, we are looking for a Finance Manager to join our worldwide Data Center Innovation Finance (DCIF) team. The DCIF team supports the Data Center Engineering team, responsible for designing and building data center capacity, and includes functions like procurement & supply chain, infrastructure energy, construction and design engineering. This role mainly collaborates with construction and design engineering.

Key responsibilities in this role include:
- Serve as the key business partner to the Design Engineering, Innovation and Controls teams working directly with AWS senior management and other internal stakeholders to provide financial recommendations on electrical and mechanical innovations that should be included in the next generation of data center designs.
- Develop ad-hoc business analysis and present recommendations to AWS senior management around design changes introduced to Colocation facilities and the DC capital improvement process.
- Manage the financial planning and analysis effort and forecast various metrics for financial risks and opportunities.
- Report on the financial performance and lead in the preparation of weekly, monthly and annual financial review.
- Monitor compliance with controls and systems, and developing new processes and controls to support the fast-growing, global AWS business.





A day in the life
You will support the Data Center Engineering (DCE) organization in the design, financial evaluation, execution, budgeting and monitoring of strategic initiative (SI) related to electrical, mechanical, power generation, and/or structural design of new data center generational designs. These strategic initiatives are critical for how AWS builds and operates DCs, and optimize for power, space, and cooling capacity ratios to support the latest hardware infrastructure, as well as incorporating the latest innovations in sustainability, availability, resiliency, and cost. You will support the financial evaluation of various engineering initiatives that will influence the future design of the datacenters. you will work with engineers and TPMs from a variety of disciplines like Electrical, Structural, Civil, Mechanical, and Environmental. This requires strong domain and deep technical subject matter expertise, and the ability to influence senior leadership in both verbal and written communications.

About the team
The DC Innovation Finance team is made up of subject matter experts for specific engineering or generational design fields that partner with the business to optimize the design of our DCs. As such, the team is known for having vast knowledge around engineering decisions that ultimately allows AWS to offer competitive prices to our customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience
- 5+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- 5+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- MBA, or CPA
- Knowledge of SQL/ETL
- 5+ years of multiple finance and accounting roles experience
- 6+ years of Accounts Receivable or Account Payable experience
- 6+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience
- 6+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience
- 6+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
- 6+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
