Key job responsibilities
This is a collaborative, hands-on, Product Development role that also supports our test kitchen facility- the Center of Excellence. You will work within the stage gate process for new and optimized grocery private brands product development, meeting brand and brief guardrails with data-driven benchmarking, scale-up manufacturing knowledge, ensuring highest quality standards and speed to market. You will leverage your industry experience and keen attention to detail as a process and documentation champion.

A day in the life
The successful candidate has a well-developed palate and sensory training, able to clearly articulate verbal and written communication with store associates and senior leadership, experience in grocery center store product development and the food manufacturing environment. Knowledge of conducting kitchen/lab benchwork experiments, organoleptic testing and documentation, and trained sensory evaluation is preferred. Building simplified systems and processes for organized work environments is a must.

About the team
The Sensory and Culinary Product Development team works cross-functionally on projects that require a strong detail-oriented focus and proven ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. We are part of a larger Product Development team of experts in Food Science, Commercialization, Process, Packaging, and Quality. We create new and optimized products for the Amazon Fresh Private Brands Roadmap, working closely with internal and external teams to develop delicious food that our customer’s LOVE.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience developing operational processes and technologies
- Experience in balancing conflicting priorities dealing with ambiguity
- 4+ years’ experience in At-Scale Culinary Product Development with increasing responsibility, including: • Benchwork development to launch • Gold standard development and commercialization experience in wide range of on-shelf products
- 1+ years experience creating, documenting, and implementing food industry processes and procedures
- Proficiency with Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, formula and specification management systems

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel (macros, pivots, lookups) at an advanced level
- Experience building and analyzing cost/benefit scenarios and business cases and communicating results throughout the organization
- Certified Research Chef (CRC), Culinary Arts or Food Science Degree, or equivalent experience as a Professional Chef • Food Technology and ingredient functionality experience/training
- Experience developing grocery center store products at-scale
- Experience with Stage Gate process and cross functional timeline management

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,600/year in our highest geographic market.
