As a Business Analyst in Payment Risk Operations, you will be responsible for analyzing terabytes of data to identify specific instances of risk, broader risk trends and points of customer friction, developing scalable solutions for prevention. You will need to collaborate effectively with business and product leaders within BRP and cross-functional teams to solve problems, create operational efficiencies, and deliver successfully against high organizational standards. You should be able to apply a breadth of tools, data sources, and analytical techniques to answer a wide range of high-impact business questions and proactively present new insights in concise and effective manner. In addition you will be responsible for building a robust set of operational and business metrics and will utilize metrics to determine improvement opportunities.
You should be an effective communicator capable of independently driving issues to resolution and communicating insights to non-technical audiences. This is a high impact role with goals that directly impacts the bottom line of the business.
Key job responsibilities
1. Understand the various operations across Payment Risk Operations
2. Use analytical acumen to derive insights into business problems and processes that impact strategic direction
3. Design and develop highly available dashboards and metrics using SQL and Excel/Tableau/Quicksight
4. Perform business analysis and data queries using scripting languages like R, Python etc
5. Understand the requirements of stakeholders and map them with the data sources/data warehouse
6. Own the delivery and backup of periodic metrics, dashboards to the leadership team
7. Draw inferences and conclusions, and create dashboards and visualizations of processed data, identify trends, anomalies
8. Execute high priority (i.e. cross functional, high impact) projects to improve operations performance with the help of Operations Analytics managers
9. Perform business analysis and data queries using appropriate tools
10. Work closely with internal stakeholders such as business teams, engineering teams, and partner teams and align them with respect to your focus area
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- 5+ years of Excel (including VBA, pivot tables, array functions, power pivots, etc.) and data visualization tools such as Tableau experience
- 3+ years of business or financial analysis experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights
- Experience with Excel
- Experience with SQL
- Experience making business recommendations and influencing stakeholders
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 1. Experience in e-commerce / on-line companies in fraud / risk control functions 2. Analytical mindset and ability to see the big picture and influence others
- 3. Detail-oriented and must have an aptitude for solving structured problems. The role will require the ability to extract data from various sources and to design/construct/execute complex analyses to finally come up with data/reports that help solve the business problem
- 4. Ability to apply analytical, computer, statistical and quantitative problem solving skills is required
- 5. Ability to work effectively in a multi-task, high volume environment
- 6. Ability to be adaptable and flexible in responding to deadlines and workflow fluctuations
- 7. Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $143,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
