Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a junior attorney with a strong regulatory background to support Amazon Web Services (AWS), a dynamic and rapidly growing business within Amazon.com. AWS provides cutting edge cloud computing services and IT infrastructure to public and private clients around the globe, including on-demand compute capacity, data storage, machine learning, and more. This role will be primarily responsible for supporting AWS's product safety and compliance teams to support a diverse array of infrastructure hardware and AWS’s global data center footprint.
You will provide legal ownership and advise AWS business teams on strategic projects and programs. You will work directly with various AWS business functions – including the AWS supply chain, procurement, engineering, product, and operation functions – to support the global procurement, manufacture, transportation, distribution, and use of AWS infrastructure hardware and the operation of AWS facilities. This role is part of a global team responsible for counseling AWS on a broad range of sustainability, health & safety, environmental, trade, and products regulatory and compliance matters.


Key job responsibilities
Principal duties include (i) providing advice on regulations concerning the design, development, manufacture, procurement, distribution, use and disposition of novel data center equipment and cutting-edge devices; (ii) providing compliance-related legal support for operation activities at AWS facilities globally; (iii) monitoring and advising the business of upcoming regulatory changes; and (iv) formulating, implementing, and maintaining applicable regulatory compliance policies and processes.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 2+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- • Experience providing legal counsel and support for product compliance, or similar regulatory matters
- • Experience with global regulations attaching to the manufacture, sale, distribution, use, handling, and disposition of hardware products
- • A combination of law firm, in-house, or government experience
- • Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team
- • Strong organizational and project management skills
- • Strong analytical and communication skills
- • Common sense, great judgment, and a good sense of humor

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $195,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
