As a participant of this program, you will develop leadership skills and evolve into a leader at the world's most innovative company. By participating in Amazon's MBA Leadership Development Program, you'll have the chance to own a multi-million-dollar business, tackle unprecedented large-scale challenges with innovative solutions, and make decisions that influence the company's long-term free cash flow. This three-year initiative features multiple job rotations, incorporating functional job training, leadership workshops, mentorship and career advice, alongside exposure to an extensive network of peers, alumni, and leaders. MLDs spearhead important retail business strategies, deepen their comprehension of retail positions, and hone leadership skills necessary for managing sizable, intricate organizations.
In a structured program, participants interact with senior leadership, gaining strategic insights and understanding decision-making aligned with long-term goals. This exposure bridges theory and practice, offering a comprehensive view of business operations. After 12 months, MLDs will prepare for rotation through career planning, interview prep, and networking events, which is supported through program benefits of 1:1 consultation, alumni insights, and MLD Program Team support.
In this critical role within Amazon's MBA Leadership Development Program, you will navigate and resolve complex challenges, balancing immediate needs against future outcomes to streamline team operations and drive efficiency. Your strategic management of risks will not only enhance the resilience and growth of your category but also align vendor strategies with company objectives, utilizing market insights and feedback to maintain product relevance. Ideal candidates possess the ability to unravel the complexities at the root of problems, making informed strategic choices that safeguard long-term prosperity and mitigate risks within their categories. With the autonomy granted in this position, you'll enhance product assortments, negotiate effectively, and cultivate robust relationships with key selling partners, all while strategically managing risks. This role demands a combination of financial acumen, skilled negotiation, and strategic foresight in formulating joint business plans, all aimed at expanding categories and achieving overarching business goals.


Key job responsibilities
• Directly responsible for the sector's P&L, involving detailed financial analysis, audits, and handling escalations to drive growth and efficiency.
• Utilizes deep financial insights for informed decision-making on pricing, selection, and customer convenience, enhancing business growth and satisfaction.
• You address complex issues' root causes for long-term success and risk management, and seek opportunities to simplify or automate for scalable solutions.
• Negotiates favorable terms with vendors, balancing strategic risk-taking with strong relationship maintenance to secure deals.
• Influences vendor priorities to align with strategic objectives, using market trends and customer feedback to adapt offerings to evolving needs.


A day in the life
When MLDs are working as Senior Vendor Managers, they are responsible for owning the P&L. This consist of ongoing negotiations with vendors, creating action plans for top line and bottom-line growth, and driving growth and profit strategies. As Senior Product Managers, MLDs will be owning their products, creating roadmaps for launch plans, influencing leadership, and honing their document writing abilities. As a Senior Supply Chain Manager, MLDs will own the buying strategy for their vendor cohort, will work with internal teams to drive Supply Chain optimization initiatives, and work to drive cross functional buying strategies that marry the business’s needs with Amazon’s core initiatives.

About the team
• Roles for this position will be located at Amazon’s company headquarters in Seattle, WA. Successful applicants will be expected to relocate to their team location upon starting at Amazon.
• MLD roles in Seattle begin on July 21, 2025.
• Role and team placement are based on business needs and as Amazon continues to grow and flex, we are looking for candidates who want to own, build and impact the customer experience rather than are tied to a specific role or team.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Are 18 years of age or older

Currently enrolled in MBA program at the time of application with anticipated graduation dates between December 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025.

3+ years of full-time industry work experience, which occurred between graduation from your undergraduate program and prior to starting your MBA program, OR 3+ years of military work experience prior to starting your MBA program.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in strategic financial management and business development
• Experience in using financial insights for strategic decision-making for growth and selection
• Experience with addressing complex issues for long-term success and risk mitigation
• Experience owning strategic relationships with key vendors

The base pay for this position ranges from $115,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market.
