We are seeking a visionary and highly motivated executive to join Retail Growth & Development and lead Store Development for the Worldwide Grocery Stores portfolio. This role oversees Pre-Construction, Retail and Industrial Building Construction, and Cost Management across a global network of retail and industrial grocery sites. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional with a passion for real estate, construction, and innovation to make a significant impact on the future of Amazon Grocery.

This leader will report to the Executive Vice President of Retail Growth & Development and lead a global team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of ground-up grocery, retail, and facilities construction, a deep appreciation for store development, and a proven track record of delivering retail and industrial building projects to the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability.


Key job responsibilities
• Lead the construction of Worldwide Grocery building projects with a focus on innovation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders to manage project budgets, schedules, and risk.
• Drive the implementation of sustainable design practices and technologies in Worldwide Grocery building projects, keeping up with the latest innovations and trends in the industry.
• Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including architects, engineers, general contractors, and regulatory agencies to effectively communicate project requirements, resolve conflicts, and achieve project goals.
• Partner with Business Operations, Design, and Launch teams to successfully deliver Worldwide Grocery industrial, kitchen, and ground-up building projects.
• Manage project budgets and Capex financial forecasts, tracking expenses, and implementing cost-saving measures where possible.
• Develop and maintain best practices for retail construction, sustainability, and cost management.
• Monitor project progress and performance, identifying and addressing any issues or obstacles that may arise during the construction process.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards, maintaining a safe and secure work environment for all personnel.
• Mentor and develop a team of store development professionals to ensure their growth and success, promoting a culture of innovation and excellence.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, or a related field.
• 12+ years of experience in industrial construction and cost management
• Experience with ground-up industrial and/or retail construction.
• Strong track record of delivering retail and/or industrial building projects on time and within budget, incorporating innovation and design excellence.
• 3+ years as a people manager – able to inspire, coach, develop, and grow geographically dispersed, high-performing cross-functional teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• MBA or other advanced degree.
• A nuanced understanding of the food retail industry, and the business models of key strategic partners and competitors.
• Embodies an incredible passion for store development and innovation in retail.
• Previous construction experience with multiregional large-scale retail and/or grocery stores.
• Deep knowledge of sustainable construction practices and technologies, and a passion for keeping up with the latest trends and innovations in the industry.
• High attention to detail including proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
• Ability to effectively manage teams, resources, and budgets, and promote a culture of innovation and design excellence.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $188,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $280,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
