The Exam Prep team is part of the AWS digital training business, creating content for AWS Skill Builder. We use the Amazon working backwards process to build innovative learning experiences. Our global customers are Enterprises, Partners, SMBs, Startups, and individual learners. To meet our customer needs we are creating exam preparation products that deliver impactful, hands-on learning experiences. We are looking for innovative ways to help our customers to successfully and confidently prepare for AWS Certification exams. Exam Preparation digital courses are highly technical digital learning courses that can be accessed 24x7 with self-paced labs. This role gives the opportunity to learn, to teach, and to play at the same time as you develop training.
The qualified candidate will have experience designing and developing hands-on labs for the AWS platform, excellent writing skills, a deep technical knowledge of IT domains and the ability to provide analysis of learning materials from a technical perspective. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have technical documentation experience. Above all, you will have a passion for learning and contributing to team and customer success.
This position is open to candidates located near AWS offices in Arlington, VA, Seattle, WA, Herndon, VA, and Austin, TX.
Key job responsibilities
* Dive deep into AWS technologies, such as AI/ML, Security, Networking, High Performance Computing, Storage, Databases, Enterprise Applications, Migration Strategies or other solutions areas to understand the services and develop effective training for our customers.
* Design, develop, and build a cohesive set of real-world, scenario-based labs and simulations to reinforce the learning objectives for AWS courseware by offering hands-on learning for students.
* Determine services and features to be included in each course based on each AWS Certification exam guide.
* Participate in course design sessions to identify training needs and collaborate with subject matter experts across AWS to build technically accurate labs that meets the learning objectives.
* Assist in technical and peer review of Exam Prep digital course content and assessments.
* Build relationships with AWS Certification Technical Architect team to understand how to best prepare candidates for actual AWS Certifications.
* Some travel required, primarily for event support and training (5%).

This role gives the opportunity to learn, to teach, and to play at the same time as you develop labs to help learners prepare for certification exams with confidence. The Technical Lab Developer will work with Curriculum Developers, the Assessment Technical Architect, Assessment Development Program Managers, subject matter experts, and the Game-Based Learning team.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 1+ year of experience in software development, systems architecture, security or systems administration.
- 1+ year prior experience designing, deploying, and operating Internet scale applications.
- Technical degree (e.g. Computer Science) or relevant work experience required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- At least two current AWS Certification (Associate, Professional, or Specialty)
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as AWS CloudFormation and AWS CDK; knowledge and/or hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure services.
- Experience designing, developing, and delivering lab instructions.
- Professional experience building systems on Amazon Web Services.
- A demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with multiple teams and stakeholders.
- A demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.
- Domain expertise in one or more of the following: AI/ML DevOps, security, systems administration, software development, cloud technology.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $71,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $160,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
