The Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) Global Demand and Operations team is looking for a technically-skilled Engineer to join our fast paced team.

As an AWS Software Engineer, you’ll be a technical leader. You’ll help establish technical standards and drive Amazon’s overall technical architecture and engineering practices. You’ll work on Amazon’s hardest problems, building high quality, architecturally sound systems that are aligned with our business needs. You will immerse yourself in your team’s entire software development lifecycle to have a hands-on impact. You’ll think globally when building systems, ensuring AWS builds high performing, scalable systems that fit well together. AWS Software Engineers are pragmatic visionaries who can translate business needs into workable technology solutions. You will take on the most challenging design and development problems personally and lead by example to deliver exceptional results that reflect a keen understanding of our customers’ needs and our business vision.

As an AWS Software Engineer you’ll be expected to:
• Serve as a technical lead on our most demanding, cross-functional projects.
• Ensure the quality of architecture and design of systems.
• Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions.
• Fully and completely understand system interdependencies and limitations.
• Possess expert knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices.
• Assist in the career development of others, actively mentoring individuals and the community on advanced technical issues and helping managers guide the career growth of their team members.
• Exert technical influence over multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience.

The right candidate will possess a strong technical leadership background and will have demonstrated experience leading medium to large projects. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment with a high degree of ambiguity, relish the idea of solving problems, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done. Along the way, you will learn a lot, have fun and make a positive impact on what is often one of the first impressions of AWS by customers.
