AWS Infrastructure Sourcing and Procurement team is looking for a Principal to be part of the Battery team to lead strategic sourcing, technology road mapping, industry enabling and related project execution for battery related platforms for our growing infrastructure. A Principal in the Battery Category is a thought leader and battery subject matter expert responsible for developing Sourcing Strategies and clear action plans to drive the lowest total cost of ownership fueling the exponential growth across our Data Centers as we meet and exceed customer demand. In this role you will lead internal engagements across Supply Chain, Engineering and Business organizations while diving deep into the technologies and operations both from a product and Supply Chain perspective. You will analyze trends involving the industry players – vendors, customers, and technology to develop strategies to reduce cost, minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and implement new technologies, allowing AWS to meet and exceed its goals.
Key job responsibilities
·Own the battery strategy and technology roadmap. Partner with engineering to deliver next generation batteries for backup power in AWS datacenters
·Identify and evaluate new and developed battery chemistries to power AI/ML applications
·Lead sourcing engagements and sourcing teams in opportunity identification and RFIs where appropriate
· Develop negotiation strategies to deliver against business objectives and achieve sustainable relationships with suppliers
· Negotiate and implement supplier agreements/contracts by working with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers to reach agreement on contract terms and conditions
· Influence suppliers' manufacturing processes, technology decisions, and policies in ways that are mutually beneficial and sustainable for both organizations by leveraging the growth of Amazon's spend
· Manage Supplier Relationships and establish yourself as a primary business and technology contact for suppliers
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor's degree in engineering or business
· Minimum of 7 years of strategic sourcing experience in high technology
· Minimum of 7 years of related supply chain experience
· 10+ years of professional experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· MBA or advanced degree in engineering or other quantitative disciplines
· Experience in the lithium-ion battery industry manufacturing and supply chain.
· Strong negotiation skills and passion for technology
· Strong writing and verbal communication skills
· High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
· Proven ability to influence others
· Excellent creative thinking skills with emphasis on developing innovative solutions to solve complex problems that may not have one clear answer
· Experience communicating to and influencing senior leadership.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $158,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,900/year in our highest geographic market.
