As a Data Engineer at AWS, you will act as a technical leader working across multiple engineering teams and projects to contribute to the system design, technology selection, software quality, and operational excellence for our current and future products and services. You will help engineers raise the bar in these and other areas by acting as a coach, mentor, and technical expert, and by helping the teams improve their engineering processes and mechanisms to achieve scale.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
- Design, implement and support an analytical data infrastructure providing ad-hoc access to large datasets and computing power
- Interface with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS big data technologies
- Managing AWS resources including Lambda, Glue, DynamoDB, LakeFormation, et cetera
- Explore and learn the latest AWS technologies to provide new capabilities and increase efficiency
- Collaborate with other tech teams to implement advanced analytics algorithms that exploit our rich datasets for statistical analysis, prediction, clustering and machine learning
- Collaborate on our technology roadmap to turn visions into reality.
Key job responsibilities
In this job, you will:
• Work with business leaders, product managers, Business Intelligence Engineers, and Data Scientists to ideate business friendly software solutions.
• Design client-side and server-side architecture.
• Develop visually appealing front end website architecture, including translating designer mock-ups and wireframes into front-end code.
• Develop functional databases, applications, and servers to support websites on the back end.
• Write effective APIs.
• Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade applications.
• Create security and data protection settings.
• Build features and applications with a mobile responsive design.
• Develop technical specifications and write technical documentation

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
- Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
