AWS Relational Engines is composed of Amazon Aurora, Amazon Redshift, and AWS Distributed SQL. AWS Relational Engines Security was originally formed to support Redshift and has expanded to support Analytics, Relational Engines, RDS, Database Services, as well as AI/ML, and Next Generation Developer Experience

Key job responsibilities
This PE will operate as a bar-setter, influencer, and integrator. They will need to deeply understand engineering approaches and architectures, but will be focused on the security aspects of designs and implementations. They will craft the security strategy, with the understanding of an Engineer to guide and confirm engineers architect features securely and correctly. This leader will work with other PSEs to provide input to the engineering teams on adjacent technical design and technologies. The PSE will dive deep on existing solutions, and influence leaders and engineers to drive roadmap, though we do not expect this person to code on a day-to-day basis. They will do so by earning trust through insightful analysis and data, while clearly articulating security improvements to the current design.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

15+ years of experience building and innovating in the security engineering space.
• 5+ years of security fundamentals experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (related field) or equivalent work experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• You have deep knowledge of and proven development on AWS
• You are comfortable generating automated metrics to measure operations and program effectiveness
• You thrive and succeed in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift fast
• You have a solid work ethic based on a strong desire to exceed expectations; hands-on experience working successfully in a very fast-paced, results-oriented environment
• You have deep experience with security tools such as intrusion detection, log analysis and network scanning
• You have deep knowledge of web, security, and networking protocols
• You have prior P&L level ownership or equivalent work experience
• You intrinsically demonstrate Amazon’s leadership principles
• You possess the functional and technical depth for this role

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $170,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $294,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
