We are looking for a Health and Safety (H&S) Program Manager who will be responsible for driving a systematic approach to delivering high-level, programmatic requirements of the AWS Safety Management Program (SMP), with a focus on defining the program structures, ownership, auditing mechanisms, policies and procedures necessary to formally measure, evaluate and improve individual and organizational H&S performance. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with a solid knowledge foundation in safety management systems, local and regional safety standards, and a proven track record of designing & improving safety programs & policies. They will have a history of building partnerships with diverse teams across multiple jurisdictions. The candidate must have the ability define clear requirements in ambiguity, proactively educate team members, leaders, and other support teams, and communicate effectively and consistently throughout all levels of the business. The role will evolve with the maturity and growth of the SMP and requires a high degree of flexibility, including the ability to deep dive time critical programs, manage compliance assurance, and deliver continuous improvement actions.

Key job responsibilities
•Technical Writing of SMP Documents including the creation of new and Maintenance of the global regulatory compliance documentation to ensure accurate and up to date adherence to set standards
•Manage the document authoring tool for Safety Management Program (SMP) documentation
•Program Management including the development of programs, standards, tools, or best practice documentation reflective of regulatory requirements and current-state operations
•Plan and execute projects related to the Health and Safety program
•Plan and conduct audits of the SMP including on-site verification and remote assessments
•Support SMP initiatives and programs for the region, including the initial communication and implementation of SMP in the region
•Act as the authoritative source for SMP-related questions
•Partner with local operational staff in communication, training, and execution of the SMP
• Provide timely communications to Data Center Operations leadership when needed
•Provide SMP program-level training and coaching to local operational staff to ensure technical competence across the region
•Follow up to ensure that corrective actions are implemented where necessary
•Define, implement and oversee SMS-related performance metric reporting and communication
•Partner with data center support functions such as Legal, Engineering, Human Resources, Procurement, etc. to continuously capture opportunities for improvement, and facilitate the implementation of these improvements
•Act as a subject matter expert in safety and health standards, possess excellent safety program management skills, and be an effective communicator capable of sending clear, concise, and consistent messages both verbally and in writing

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Minimum four year college degree in a health and safety, program management, physical science, related field or equivalent experience in health and safety management.
- 1+ years using MadCap Flare or can immediately move us into tech writing tool that can do the same thing.
- 1+ years experience in HTML/CSS, XML, Markdown, Git + CLI
- 1+ years with a degree, or 3+ or more years without a degree of health and safety experience in general industry or construction.
- 3+ years of program or project management experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 1+ years’ experience managing document creation tasks from localization through publication.
- 1+ years’ experience managing documents and local regulatory requirements
- 1+ years of experience designing, revising, and implementing health and safety or equivalent programs.
- 1+ years of experience in project management
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent preferred
- Knowledge of applicable region specific federal, state, and local health and safety regulations (OSHA standards).
- High ethical standards with proven ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information; excellent judgment, discretion and diplomacy.
- Self-directed and driven to deliver with quality.
- Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems.
- Travel estimated up to 35%

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $142,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
