Senior Software Dev Engineer, Kuiper Satellite Communication System - MAC Software Development
Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband internet connectivity to un-served and under-served communities around the world. In this role, you will be bringing that vision to life by architecting, developing and testing the communication systems payload software that provides the radio link connectivity between the satellites to customer-terminals and the ground-based internet gateways. You will develop the Medium Access Control (MAC) layer embedded software of the Kuiper Communication System, which runs on the satellites and on the ground systems (customer terminals and ground gateways). The MAC layer implements the Kuiper air-interface specification and controls our proprietary modems chipsets and inter-working with the radio transceivers and antenna systems. You will work with industry's best communication systems engineering experts as well as the ASIC and hardware engineers deliver this critical MAC software layer. Export Control Requirement:Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Key job responsibilitiesIn this role you will drive the design, development, and operation of MAC software and related functional such as packet processing, QoS and dynamic bandwidth management, drivers for proprietary silicon devices and blocks, critical platform layer functions, telemetry, power control and radio resources management, beam steering control, link level encryption/decryption, resiliency and fault tolerance and recovery.- You will own unique embedded software modules through design, implementation (in C, C++, RUST or other), debugging, integration and testing, in an embedded Linux or real-time operating system (RTOS) environment on on multicore SOCs.- You will develop drivers to control silicon devices using proprietary and standard communication buses, such as Interlaken SerDes, JESD, PCIe, Ethernet, etc.- You will closely closely with hardware teams to support chip and board design, bring-up, and verification- You will closely work with systems engineering and integration teams to develop integration and test strategy. - You will follow and advocate the best practices in high reliability embedded software development to ensure very high levels of system reliability and availability. An ideal candidate will have 7+ years of industry experience in C/C++/Rust embedded SW development in areas such as cellular-wireless/satellite/optical-fiber communications, networking, industrial control, and aerospace systems.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience- 7+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team ...
