We are looking for a self-motivated Security Engineer with strong data governance skills and experience leading multiple projects simultaneously. The successful candidate will engage with internal builders and third-party vendors to drive new innovation and successful security outcomes for Kuiper’s evolving needs. You will be part of the Kuiper Security External Security Assurance Team, which is an internal security organization dedicated to security governance, policy and supply chain risk management. As Kuiper meets the challenges of growing in a nascent industry, Kuiper Security is they key organization that will ensure Kuiper’s application productivity platform needs are securely integrated, well documented, streamlined, and effective for engineering teams.

Key job responsibilities
- Collaborate with product teams to develop new features and mechanisms with an eye on security.
- Influence decision-makers and stakeholders throughout the organization on multiple teams to achieve a consistently high security bar.
- Assess and contextualize security risk and provide mitigations across Kuiper's technology, services and applications.
- Ensure that detected security issues are treated with a level of urgency that reflects their true risk.
- Develop, interpret, and implement security policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance to the AWS community on supply chain security practices.
- Drive best security practices through the Kuiper supply chain by developing and implementing SCRM policies, procedures and performance of hands-on supply chain security activities.
- Directly participate in setting a vision and objectives for your team's work in alignment with business and regulatory needs.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 3+ years of any combination of the following: threat modeling experience, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration and network security experience
- Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS and TCP/IP
- Ability to engage autonomously with product and system owners to resolve ambiguous security problems.
- Ability to weigh security and business risk trade-offs when identifying solutions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with AWS products and services
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, C++
- An advanced degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related technical field.
- Relevant industry certifications (CISSP, CISA, CISM, CEH, CCSP, CCSK).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to a wide variety of audiences.
- Knowledge of security compliance programs including ISO 27000, NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, CMMC, etc.
- Knowledge of supply chain management practices, including manufacturing systems, process control, and international shipment logistics and regulations.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
