Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

The Senior Technical Program Manager for Kuiper will manage requirements, define the system-level interfaces and organize technical efforts for the satellite assembly integration and test (AI&T). This role will work with the satellite AI&T team and all other related cross-cutting workstreams to enable successful integration, build and testing of Satellites. This role includes direct responsibility for program and project management of system-level developments with focus on multiple functionality Software deliverables, test plans and test validation at Satellite level. This is a technical role requiring experience with integrated hardware and software development/testing as well as some appreciation for complex applications. You will have significant influence over the design and the approach we take to develop the test systems, Satellite level tests and final delivery.

This position requires a program management background and direct experience developing and testing relevant systems. You will create and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but will also roll up your sleeves and contribute directly in test strategy and execution.

A Senior TPM anticipates bottlenecks, uses great judgment to make trade-offs, dives deep technically and balances the business needs with technical constraints. Your ability to understand the big picture of the project design and anticipate and plan dependencies is crucial. Your ability to take large, complex projects, break them into manageable pieces, and deliver timely results is invaluable. You will work with a team of experts and drive the team to successfully accomplish the following activities:

- Drive complex cross-functional engineering inclusive of hardware, software, systems, tests, evaluation and reporting
- Define the subset of software features required to execute each test campaign
- Develop and manage technical requirements and interfaces that to system level requirements.
- Develop test approaches, requirements, strategies.
- Complex dependency management of hardware, software, test deliverables.
- Identify and manage the conduct of trade studies and analyses necessary to understanding performance and other aspects of the design.
- Identify and manage the development of simulations and other technical tools.
- Develop program and team mechanisms and tools as required.
- Provide a cross-cutting collaboration mechanism with data driven information through a light weight central TPM team, and deliverables meet Program Schedule
- Equip leadership with right data for quality decision making on blockers
- Satellite Production and Testing: cross functional visibility of schedule, milestones, dependencies, risk/issue, Actions & Decisions.
- LRUs/Satellite and SW Provisioning.
- Track Open Jira Issues, mitigate risks and reporting to leadership

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, Software Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of hardware, software, system integration and test development of complex systems across the full product life cycle.
- 2+ years developing test approaches, strategies, and executing to plan for integrated products.
- 2+ years of experience in a technical lead, systems engineer, or technical program management role with significant experience architecting and integrating HW and SW into a complex system.
- 2+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams delivering products on schedule.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 2+ years direct experience with HW and SW development including specification, design, build and qualification
- 2+ years experience with modern development methods for mission critical applications
- Master’s degree in aerospace engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
- Experience in Satellite Test and Validation, Qualification, and Test Planning with focus on Software.
- Experience developing high-performance systems for aerospace applications or systems operating in extreme environments.
- Experience in automated testing and system characterization
- Previous experience in a Technical Program Management role with cross-functional responsibilities.
- Understanding of the requirements and methods for proper handling of satellite formal test articles and flight hardware.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
