In this role, you will manage the team who designs, develops and delivers the software used to control Kuiper satellites.
The team will code, test and support the embedded real-time application that flies the spacecraft from launch to re-entry. The team will also provide software support to the ground-based flight dynamics system used to control Kuiper trajectories, while working closely with the Guidance and Control and Flight Dynamics teams.
Key job responsibilities
* Lead a team of SW engineers implementing the embedded code required to: a) provide attitude control of Kuiper satellites and , b) control the Kuiper propulsion system.
* Lead or work alongside a parallel SW engineering team developing functions and services required to control Kuiper satellite orbits; working with the the Kuiper Flight Dynamics Systems team.
* Together with GNC SW engineer leads develop and execute a roadmap for GNC SW development.
* Create and maintain mechanisms used within the team as needed to plan/organize tasks and achieve consistent high-quality documentation of the complete engineering development cycle.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and operations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
- 3+ years experience development SW for embedded systems.
- 3+ years experience developing SW for Aerospace applications, principally embedded vehicle SW.
- Applicants with bachelor or advanced degrees in Aerospace, Systems Engineering, or similar are encouraged to apply.
- Experience with automated vehicle control systems, preferably applied in Aerospace vehicles.
- Development and test experience with high reliability codebase.
- Experience with the development and application of data monitoring systems used within bandwidth constrained channels.
- Experience developing SW in Rust.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market.
