In this role, you will help lead inventory management innovation, define the AIM Inventory Planning roadmap and system improvements to automate worldwide inventory management, and identify and drive long term free cash flow opportunities.
You will work closely with Scientists, Engineers and Product Managers to build scalable, high insight- high impact products and lead retail inventory planning cycles, to enable top-notch Amazon global retail inventory efficiency strategy within our rapidly growing, dynamic business and influence Amazon's inventory management decisions on a day-to-day basis.
Key job responsibilities
In this role you will…
• Collaborate with and influence a wide set of stakeholders, providing thought leadership, product expertise, and business insight.
• Own and execute retail inventory guidance planning cycles, as inputs into global Amazon financial plans and network plans
• Work across AIM Planning, PMs, Engineers, Scientists, Finance, and SCOT teams to establish the Inventory Planning BIE Roadmap.
• Dive deep to create insights on how well Amazon is taking care of the customer as it relates to product availability and inventory levels
• Drive changes through insights to improve a wide range of internal products that impact planning, buying and sourcing.
• Develop improvements and invent new ways to look at / trends via an internal worldwide customer portal.
• Interface with cross-functional teams to build centralized tools that will allow for rapid defect detection and repair.
• Partner with Engineers and Software Engineers to design products and systems to transform and store billions of items using AWS redshift
• Explore/analyze and work with Product Managers to understand customer behaviors, spot system defects, and benchmark our ability to serve our customers
• Design and implement technical solutions with an appropriate analytics strategy and data set design; make technical trade-offs for long-term / short-term needs; and drive best practices in operational excellence, data modelling, and analysis.

The AIM team is part of the Supply Chain Optimization Technology (SCOT) Team within the Operations Organization. The charter of the SCOT team is to maximize Amazon’s return on our inventory investment in terms of Free Cash Flow and customer satisfaction. We accomplish this by determining how much inventory Amazon needs of each SKU and what to do if we have too much. This puts the Inventory Planning group at the nexus of operations, logistics, capacity planning, and our retail business teams.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of SQL experience
- 5+ years of professional or military experience
- Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
- Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
- Experience with AWS technologies
- Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining
- Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
- Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership
- Experience with R, Python, Matlab or other statistical/machine learning software

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
