We are seeking a leader with procurement experience to strategically source products and services for the Global Procurement Organization (GPO). The Spend Manager (SM) in this role will coordinate with category and shared services teams across Amazon to enable and operationalize strategies with multiple strategic suppliers to delight our customers across operations. The position will partner with our stakeholders to execute category sourcing strategies, deliver savings and improve productivity for the businesses. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, and a creative, critical thinker with an intense motivation to learn. You must be an effective communicator and be able to work independently and as a leader of peers to generate high-quality work product in a collaborative, creative, ever-changing, and sometimes ambiguous environment. You must have a professional demeanor and be able to work at multiple levels in and outside the organization.


Key job responsibilities
• Establish category sourcing strategies, led cross-functional strategies, negotiate with suppliers and execute contracts
• Drive appropriate relationships our suppliers, with a principal objective of achieving the optimal solution and cost of ownership that meets the business’ goals
• Support a culture of continuous improvement with performance benchmarks
• Manage category suppliers to proactively identify, monitor and optimize opportunities
• Act as a market intelligence provider regarding categories; anticipate strategic opportunities and keep key stakeholders informed
• Drive category suppliers in Supplier Relationship Management activities to mitigate risk, improve performance and add value to Amazon
• Identify, achieve and report on savings and value targets for category sourcing activities
• Align with internal customers and understand the business application of the category

• Execute category strategies in conjunction with internal customers to ensure there is a comprehensive, unified approach
• Achieve yearly cost saving or value targets appropriate to the category

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Business Analytics or related field
- • 5+ years of experience in a sourcing or supply chain management or equivalent role
- • MS tool suite and ability to learn proprietary systems
- • Analytical skills, ability to distill, synthesize, and draw conclusions on large amounts of data
- • Negotiation and supplier relationship experience required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- • MBA
- • Lean/Six-Sigma Certification
- • Product Management/Retail Vendor Management experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $103,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $181,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
