Within this context, the Trailer Path Optimization team in the Middle Mile Route Planning organization plays a crucial role. This highly technical team focuses on solving complex routing problems at scale, developing sophisticated algorithms and implementing large-scale solutions to optimize trailer paths across the network.
We are building Day 1 products to route millions of freight on a real-time basis. Our services handle thousands of requests per second, make business decisions impacting billions of dollars a year, and improve ordering and delivery experience for millions of online shoppers. The Trailer Path Optimization team contributes to this by creating robust software systems that can efficiently handle massive datasets and complex routing decisions.
To accomplish this, you will be expected to have an established background in technology, excellent project delivery skills, good communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment. You should be somebody who enjoys working on complex system/software, is customer-centric, and feels strongly about building good software as well as making that software achieve its operational goals.
As part of the Trailer Path Optimization team, you'll interact with senior engineers on a daily basis to build algorithms and maintainable systems. You'll also work with the latest AWS technologies regularly. Experience with building and operating backend applications, especially at massive scale, will be very applicable and helpful. This team requires individuals with strong technical skills and the ability to translate complex concepts into efficient, production-ready code.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
