The Launch and Innovation (L&I) organization's mission is to build trusted business partnerships within North America (NA) Transportation by providing data-driven financial mechanisms and controllership to steer & influence capital investment and decision-making, leading to a ‘Best in Class’ delivery network. Two business units within the organization make up R2L - SSD and RSR. SSD stands for Sub-Same-Day and they are Fulfillment Centers (FCs) that make same-day delivery even faster by building out first of their kind buildings that serve as mini-FCs optimized for faster click to delivery speeds. The Rural/Super Rural (RSR) program was launched with the aim of optimizing Amazon 1P delivery of parcel and heavy/bulky packages in rural markets. Our finance team closely partners to support these rapidly expanding business while building an extensive portfolio of fulfillment centers, delivery stations, vans, and technology to deliver customers' packages on time - often next day, sometimes faster. We augment our traditional "deliver by van" with other models including Amazon Flex (gig economy drivers), Amazon Lockers, and even via Electronic Bikes in urban areas - all designed to deliver smiles to our customers. L&I Capex FP&A - R2L seeks a Finance Manager to support our Global Controls, Compliance, and Risk Management team based in Bellevue, Nashville or Dallas. As a Financial Manager on the L&I R2L Capex Finance team, supporting global Controls, Compliance, and Risk Management, you will be pivotal to the team's success, as you partner with multiple functions to maintain and expand financial controls over Capital Expenditures, Building Construction, Capital Planning. This role will partner will multiple stakeholders within both finance and the business teams to provide Financial planning and analysis insights for the R2L network. This role will provide extensive opportunities to partner with multiple finance and operations teams including Construction, Real Estate, Accounting, Procurement, and Launch Operations to solve tough problems as we grow and develop the R2L network. A typical day in this role provides an opportunity to innovate by helping to build scalable, robust, dependable and systemic analysis through data-driven decision making.

Success in this role requires you to partner with and influence finance teams, support thoughtful decision-making, and adapt to an ever-changing environment. You will collaborate with all types of stakeholders, from other finance analysts, to functional business teams, to leaders across Finance, Accounting and other business units within Amazon. You bring best-in-class business partnership while providing strong controllership and control management. You are comfortable leading variance analysis deep dives, presenting to business owners during reviews, and can pivot between the defined financial rhythms and ad-hoc project analyses. You use judgment to prioritize high-priority work and projects that maximize results for key stakeholders, while helping to solve complex problems that affect company-wide decisions.



Key job responsibilities
- Partners with Finance, Accounting, and business Operations to build and develop a manageable Controls & Compliance environment across key Finance and Operational metrics.
- Partners with Controls & Compliance teams to support a robust, data driven control environment for Amazon Logistics Capital Spending (Capex) for senior leadership, in support of CFO level goals and objectives.
- Uses solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models, interpret data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations that deliver results, drive improvements, and influence leaders throughout Amazon. These decisions can have global impact.
- Collects and analyzes quantitative data to develop relevant reports that drive cost reductions.
- Participates in hiring, developing, and mentoring peers and team members. Seeks and leverages diverse perspectives in all activities.
- Identifies opportunities to resolve defects proactively. Improves, scales, or simplifies finance tools across teams and organizations.
- Monitors the R2L Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs) on a weekly basis
- Helps facilitate outstanding CARs and Open Purchase Orders to remove old spend
- Owner of R2L Depreciation variance analysis and insights
- Analyzes Existing Projects Capex variance during month end close
- Helps with Control review and validation

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)
- 5+ years of finance experience, or Master’s degree and 3+ years of finance experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Knowledge of SQL/ETL

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
