The WW IPAT FP&A team is developing a top-down model which represents a strategic shift from traditional bottom-up planning to a more streamlined, data-driven methodology for forecasting Amazon's Worldwide Operations costs. This centralized approach utilizes KPIs as a driver-based forecast model to generate automated, explainable forecasts on a more regular basis, allowing leadership to receive more frequent forecast trends. The model aims to provide more agile and accurate financial projections, enabling earlier identification of risks and opportunities while reducing workload on finance teams across the organization. By providing more frequent forecasts, this model will facilitate leadership's decision-making process, allowing for more timely and informed strategic choices.

In this role, the Finance Manager is accountable for designing, executing, and automating the centralized financial forecasting process working closely with Data Scientists. Key responsibilities include conducting in-depth financial analyses to identify critical key performance indicators, constructing a robust forecasting model, instituting review mechanisms, and furnishing senior leadership with insightful financial forecasts. Ensuring the accuracy and explainability of the centralized financial forecasting process is paramount, requiring continuous refinement to reflect the dynamic operational landscape. Collaboration with technical experts, data scientists, and business intelligence engineers is essential to automate processes and enhance global scalability.

The Finance Manager must possess profound insights into financial and performance metrics across diverse geographies and business segments, as well as advanced analytics and predictive modeling capabilities to generate data-driven forecasts that inform strategic decisions. Striking a balance between simplicity and precision is crucial in refining the forecasting process, and it is essential to continuously learn the business and improve the financial model to ensure its relevance and effectiveness over time.
Furthermore, adept stakeholder management skills and presentation skills are critical for fostering trust and collaboration with senior leadership, including Vice Presidents and Directors. The Finance Manager must deliver frequent, transparent forecasts while valuing diverse perspectives and maintaining effective communication channels, skills that are essential for the long-term success of this position.

Key job responsibilities
• Design, execute, and automate the centralized top-down financial forecasting process for Amazon's Worldwide Operations costs

• Develop and refine a driver-based forecast model using key performance indicators (KPIs), working closely with Data Scientists

• Conduct in-depth financial analyses to identify critical KPIs and ensure model accuracy and relevance

• Provide senior leadership with regular, insightful, and explainable financial forecasts to facilitate decision-making

• Collaborate with technical experts to automate processes and enhance global scalability of the forecasting model

• Apply advanced analytics and predictive modeling capabilities to generate data-driven forecasts

• Balance simplicity and precision in the forecasting process while continuously improving the model

• Manage stakeholders effectively, including VPs and Directors, fostering trust and collaboration

• Enable earlier identification of risks and opportunities, while working to reduce workload on finance teams across the organization

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- 5+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
- MBA, or CPA
- Knowledge of SQL/ETL
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
