Intelligence & Industrialization (I&I) is a functional team that provides data analytics, business intelligence, and software configuration support to business users within Global Supply Chain and Transportation Procurement (GSCTP) and Amazon Customs & Trade (ACT).
GSCTP is an organization under worldwide operations that develops and maintains strategic relationships with third party (3P) supply chain and transportation service providers.
GSCTP is working towards Amazon's Climate Pledge goal of being net carbon zero by 2040. For this, we are seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to lead the foundational work to collect, measure, manage, and reduce carbon emissions from third party transport suppliers. The BIE will partner with other Data teams on setting up Amazon's first automated and scalable solution to ingest sustainability data (emissions) from external vendors. Along with that, the person will play a key role in developing end-to-end BI solutions to support contract negotiations, business reviews, performance management, and process improvements.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop robust data pipelines to ingest sustainability data (emissions, fuel usage, etc.) from third-party carrier APIs, SFTP connections, and other external sources. Leverage AWS' Sustainability Services to accelerate integration
- Collaborate cross-functionally to define data models, transformation requirements, and end-to-end carbon intensity metrics, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and reliability
- Ensure data accuracy and business logic robustness for key business metrics
- Use BI tools with data visualizations to articulate compelling business cases with actionable insights and enhance BI self-service support for customers
- Automate repetitive data processing and reporting tasks to improve efficiency and enable scalable, self-service BI capabilities for business users
- Present well-researched, data-driven proposals and recommendations to senior leaders, outlining strategic opportunities to reduce the carbon footprint of Amazon's third-party transportation network
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
- Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
