We are seeking a dynamic, innovative, and results-driven Senior Program Manager to join our Global Engineering Services - Sustainability & Automation team. This role will spearhead our efforts to decarbonize Amazon's operational infrastructure and supply chain, with a particular focus on Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and other building systems. The Senior Program Manager will facilitate strategic partnerships, conduct Life Cycle Assessments, and develop strategies to integrate low-carbon technologies and materials across our global operations. This position requires strong analytical skills, the ability to influence cross-functional teams, and a passion for driving Amazon's commitment to sustainability and operational excellence. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams, external suppliers, and industry partners to align priorities and ensure the delivery of key milestones that support Amazon's Climate Pledge goal of reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.

Key job responsibilities
1) Strategic Development and Implementation
o Spearhead the development of comprehensive sustainability strategies for MHE and Building systems across Amazon's global operations.
o Identify key opportunities for emissions reduction and prioritize initiatives based on potential impact and feasibility.
o Collaborate with leadership to align sustainability efforts with Amazon's broader business objectives and Climate Pledge commitments.

2.Faciliate and participate in key strategic partnerships with other industry partners. Develop and implement strategies to leverage Amazon's puchasing power to drive the integration of decarbonization strategies via commercial partnerships.

3. Life Cycle Assessment and Carbon Accounting
o Conduct and oversee Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) for key operational products and infrastructure components.
o Perform carbon hotspot analyses to identify critical areas for emissions reduction across Amazon's operations.
o Develop and maintain a comprehensive carbon accounting framework for MHE and Building systems, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of Scope 3 emissions.

4. Supplier Engagement and Decarbonization:
o Design and implement supplier engagement strategies to drive sustainability improvements across Amazon's MHE and Builsing Systems supply chain.
o Collaborate with the Global Procurement Organization (GPO) to integrate sustainability criteria into supplier selection and evaluation processes.
o Develop tailored decarbonization roadmaps for key suppliers, providing guidance and support for emissions reduction efforts.

5. Cross functional collaboration across Amazon's World Wide Sustainability, Global Procurement, Design Engineering, Operations Engineering and finance teams.

6. Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for sustainability initiatives, ensuring clear visibility into progress and impact.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 7+ years of program or project management experience
- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related field
- Strong analytical skills with experience in carbon accounting and life cycle assessment methodologies
- Excellent project management abilities with a track record of leading complex, cross-functional initiatives
- Deep understanding of industrial sustainability challenges, particularly in steel production and manufacturing
- Proven ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- Professional certifications such as LEED AP, LFA, Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Energy Manager
- Experience with sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD)
- Knowledge of green building standards and sustainable design principles
- Experience of vendor management and material supply chain.
- Demonstrated success in driving sustainability improvements in large, complex organizations

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
