In this role, the Design Engineer will drive process engineering, building design, and standardization across our Last Mile delivery network. This individual will be responsible for designing and optimizing the delivery and sortation network, enabling operations processes to meet safety, customer experience, quality, and cost goals.
Responsibilities will include creating and maintaining optimal drawings of material handling equipment, work areas, and storage equipment as well as design support for future initiatives. Drawings will require a high level of detail in both plan views as well as corresponding elevation views.
A successful candidate will be able to collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to generate high-quality, cost-effective solutions in very short periods of time, and simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors.
Key job responsibilities
- Work with key stakeholders on the criteria for design and expansion
- Develop design and analytical models (excel, simulation etc.) to show feasibility and operational cost of design
- Ability to generate and implement design process with an aim to articulate operational and safety criteria in design development
- Review design and supporting technical documents for approvals
- Review existing designs to identify value engineering opportunities and optimization
- Ability to easily communicate, present and write technical documents/drawings
- Project manage and communicate project with all stakeholders via project management tools
- Ability to train and articulate standards across cross functional teams.
- Ability to travel 25% of the time
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent industrial and operations background
- 5+ years of engineering experience in industrial, logistics, distribution, fulfillment, manufacturing, architectural, robotics, production environment
- Expert in AutoCAD, REVIT or any other CAD program
- Data analysis and analytical skills
- Experience in solution optimization, value engineering, best fit analysis (design and data), process development.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's in Engineering, Logistics, or Supply Chain
- 8+ year of relevant design engineering experience - Experience developing automation solutions involving selecting tech, productivity and cost analysis
- Knowledge with simulation in one of the software’s listed (Matlab/Simulink, Anylogic, FlexSim)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to organize, manage multiple tasks and dealing with ambiguity

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600/year in our highest geographic market.
