Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,000+ satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

We are seeking a Data Engineer to join Project Kuiper's ground infrastructure services team, where you'll develop scalable data pipelines, APIs, and tools that process geospatial data to guide critical network deployment decisions. In this role, you'll work with a collaborative team to transform complex spatial data into actionable insights that directly impact where and how we deploy ground infrastructure to maximize coverage for underserved communities worldwide.

Key job responsibilities
* Design and implement data pipelines for processing geospatial data from various sources
* Develop and maintain APIs for service consumption
* Create and optimize spatial databases and queries for performance at scale
* Build tools for visualizing and analyzing geospatial data
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions
* Implement data quality controls and validation processes
* Contribute to geospatial data management best practices
* Design systems to track and report on service metrics
* Implement solutions for data integration from multiple sources

A day in the life
You'll develop and maintain scalable data pipelines processing terabytes of geospatial data, create APIs powering mission-critical services, and build tools that directly impact our global network deployment decisions. Your solutions will help determine where and how we deploy ground infrastructure to maximize coverage for underserved communities worldwide.

About the team
Within ground infrastructure services, our geospatial team provides the location intelligence foundation that guides Kuiper's terrestrial infrastructure deployment. We transform complex spatial data into actionable insights, helping teams determine where to build ground stations, optimize coverage areas, and plan network deployment. Through our data-driven solutions and analytical tools, we enable informed decision-making for infrastructure investments across the globe. As we scale, you'll work with a collaborative team of geospatial experts to develop the next generation of tools and systems that support Kuiper's expanding ground presence.
