As an Area Security Manager (ASM) you will be tasked with driving operational security excellence in several separate facilities located within a short driving distance. You will do this by managing the Data Center Security Managers (DSM) and Data Center Security Specialists (DSS) as they manage their operations. Ensuring constant vigilance from the DSMs, DSSs and the contracted guard force, a successful ASM will drive improvements across their area. ASMs will be tasked with leading cluster and sometimes region wide projects in all aspects of the DC physical security program. ASMs will assist the Cluster Security Manager (CSM) with any other projects or programs as needed, and will assist with the hiring and onboarding of new security personnel.
Key job responsibilities
The ASM serves as the first line manager to a geographically disperse workforce consisting of data center security managers and specialists as well as a contract guard force. The ASM conducts analysis of security issues and makes resource decisions to best address the full scope of security matters including daily operations, performance audits, vulnerability assessment and subsequent mitigation and others. A high performing ASM must be task oriented and able to balance multiple competing priorities.
A day in the life
Every day in the life of a Data Center Security Area Manager is different. While there are recurring tasks which must occur, security incidents and unpredictable events will keep you busy. The Data Center Security program is operational twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. This will periodically require on call rotations to provide management oversight to multiple data centers.
