Amazon Policy Communications (Americas) is seeking a high-judgment communications professional to join our team.

You should have a proven record of delivering results on high-profile policy and/or competition issues for a complex company or organization. This role is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies that effectively promote and enhance the reputation of Amazon. This person works closely with senior leaders to develop key messages, prepare speeches and presentations, build leader profiles through events, social media, and overall thought leadership.

The role is based in Washington, D.C., or Seattle, Washington.


Key job responsibilities
- Strategic Communications Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies and plans to support Amazon’s policy objectives and priorities. Collaborate with select senior stakeholders to define key messages and identify the most impactful vehicles for those messages. Conduct research and monitor industry trends and developments to identify opportunities for enhancing communications campaigns.
- Thought Leadership and Messaging: Craft clear and impactful messaging that resonates with both internal and external audiences. Develop talking points, speeches, op-eds, blog posts and social media, and other communication materials for executives that align with the organization’s vision and goals. Advise executives to ensure their voice and message is effectively conveyed, and develop clear and concise briefing materials.
- External and Internal Communication Support: Develop strategy for and execute high visibility moments with leaders for events, managing keynotes and other marquee speaking engagements for select leaders, including internal global meetings, video script writing, social media strategy, content creation and execution. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Comms, Public Policy, Legal, Employee Comms) to ensure consistent messaging and alignment on key topics. Provide guidance and support to executives during high-pressure situations, and ensure timely and accurate communication to relevant stakeholders.
- Media Relations: Substantial experience with building and maintaining media relationships, and managing media cycles.
- Earn Trust: Deliver communications counsel to the public policy and business teams on both short- and long-term challenges and opportunities, earning trust across many parts of Amazon’s business.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 10+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience creating content for leaders of complex tech organizations: digital, written, video, and/or audio communications materials
- Track record in communications and thought leadership for senior business leaders
- Proficient in using various communication channels and tools, including social media platforms

- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $135,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $224,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
