Amazon’s legal department is looking for a smart, experienced, creative and highly motivated litigator to help manage its commercial litigation portfolio. Responsibilities include: architecting and implementing Amazon’s litigation strategy with respect to product, auto, general, medical, and workers’ compensation liability cases; developing, implementing, and refining coordinating counsel structures to optimize the management of those types of disputes; selecting, managing, and improving the performance of outside counsel; advising Amazon leadership on a wide range of legal and business risks and opportunities; working with Amazon witnesses and data repositories to prepare for trial; coordinating with Amazon public policy and public relations teams on matters relating to litigation; designing and implementing innovative processes that enable small teams to make high velocity decisions at scale; and providing daily cross-functional leadership to disparate Amazon stakeholders about a range of legal issues.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 10+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Sound and practical business judgment combined with strong common sense
- Experience litigating product, auto, general, medical, or workers’ compensation liability cases
- Experience developing, implementing, and refining coordinating counsel structures to manage product, auto, general, medical, or workers’ compensation liability cases Experience managing coordinating counsel as in house counsel
- Ability to manage a large number and variety of mission-critical projects, working independently and often in ambiguous contexts
- Ability to lead teams, including cross-functional teams, while being a strong partner to other lawyers, business clients, paralegals, and assistants
- Demonstrated proficiency in working closely with and advising senior executives of an organization
- Curiosity and creativit
- Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $164,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $272,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
