We’re seeking a talented attorney to support Economic Development and Community Engagement Public Policy teams, in concert with the Real Estate Legal team, to make history with us! This attorney will work with various state and local agencies and governmental entities, our public policy and real estate legal teams, and will support community engagement activities related to our global geographic giving programs. You will work directly with some or all of these teams, performing the following functions:
- Provide legal advice and drafting and negotiating agreements for economic development and community giving transactions both domestically and, as needed, internationally
- Work cross-functionally with operational teams to develop scalable approaches to successfully completing transaction deals; identify opportunities for and implement process improvements
- Advise on strategies for addressing and resolving matters related to not only legal issues, but also operational execution, compliance and reporting requirements, and the variety of issues our businesses face in their audit and administration of economic development agreements
- Provide day-to-day business and legal counseling; problem-solve and resolve legal issues that arise in existing client and business team relationships and cross-functional work; and handle pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries as necessary.

The successful candidate must be self-motivated, thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment, be able to look around corners to anticipate issues, bring solutions to the table, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- Experience in economic development, public finance, and/or tax credits work negotiating with municipality or state agencies

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
- A mix of corporate law firm and in-house experience
- Real estate transactional or land use experience ancillary to the basic Economic Development qualifications above (not in lieu)
- Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines autonomously
- Strong written and oral communication skills featuring conciseness and active voice
- Strong analytical and computer skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to exercise sound judgment in complex situations
