Key job responsibilities
• Act as the regulatory owner/expert for multiple Amazon businesses, defining our compliance strategy across privacy (e.g. GDPR, ePrivacy), consumer protection and online services (e.g. Digital Markets Act and Digital Services Act).
• Dive deep into our products and experiences to develop an in-depth understanding of how they work and current privacy and regulatory controls, and articulate compliance implications to stakeholder teams.
• Draft relevant policies and controls that support mature compliance programs and governance.
• Guide leadership in balancing risk management concerns and risk mitigations against customer experience while contributing to product roadmaps.
• Drive process improvement and control implementation projects in coordination with other teams.
• Evaluate known issues and identifying root causes through end-to-end process evaluations.
• Applying a working knowledge of global data privacy, consumer protection and online services regulations and policies to articulate customer/control impact and drive alignment across teams.
• Follow the developments of relevant privacy, consumer protection and online services laws, customer expectations, and regulatory guidance to identify and communicate key trends and to protect customer trust.
• Raising the bar on the customer experience for privacy, consumer-protection and online services related regulation.
A day in the life
In this role, focused on and driving and enhancing our privacy and regulatory program, you will partner with stakeholders across Amazon, acting as a thought leader for in-scope regulations and related compliance programs who conceives and advocates for our overall compliance strategy. You will work independently with the ability to prioritize workloads in a fast-paced environment while supporting multiple, simultaneous programs.

Part of Amazon Ads Customer Trust, the Ads Privacy & Regulatory team consists of dedicated privacy and regulatory specialists with expertise in digital advertising. The team is focused on raising the privacy and regulatory compliance bar on our advertising products and services, driving a superior customer experience, and ensuring we protect customer trust.
About the team
Our team drives the compliance strategy, implementation and program mechanisms required for Amazon to comply with obligations that protect customer personal or sensitive data, and span most or all of the company.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 7+ years of experience in privacy, regulatory, or risk and compliance roles.
• Demonstrable ability to communicate and manage relationships with stakeholders to drive results
• Experience operationalizing and/or managing global regulatory requirements
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of risk management methods and industry best practices.
• Record of delivery of regulatory-driven process improvement projects with technology processes and/or major tech companies.
• Ability to understand complex business processes and technologies.
• Analytical decision making with a demonstrated ability problem solve, make decisions in complex situations and drive issues to completion.
• Proven history of having worked effectively across cross-functional teams and business functions to drive change.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience in data privacy or regulatory compliance in a highly technical environment
• Working knowledge of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the EU ePrivacy Directive, EU Digital Markets Act (DMA) and EU Digital Services Act (DSA), US State Privacy law and/or other relevant legislation
• Relevant Privacy or compliance certifications (e.g., CIPP/E CIPP/US etc)
• Experience evaluating the design and effectiveness of controls.
• Experience in working directly with auditors for compliance assessments.
• Bachelors degree preferred

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $107,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
