Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Kuiper Production Operations team is looking for a Systems Development Engineer who is motivated to take on challenges and be part of a growing team that analyzes and implements Kuiper controls. As part of the Kuiper Enterprise Technology team, you are responsible for delivering Kuiper control systems and processes to meet Kuiper security and compliance standards. You will be a key liaison with Kuiper service teams, infrastructure teams, Kuiper Security, and Global Trade and Compliance. Have the ability to dive deep, understand, document, communicate and implement controls for IT systems and processes, and be able to drive innovative process changes and automation throughout the Kuiper organization.

Kuiper security owns policy and definition of controls, and this role owns the coordination, development, implementation, and change management of controls as well as managing defects and improvements.


Key job responsibilities
• Automate and implement security controls
• System Development Engineering
• Assisting certifications and assessments programs by liaising with Kuiper Security, auditors, and Kuiper service teams, articulating control implementation and impact, and documenting procedures
• Helps drive continuous improvements to the Kuiper compliance program, the program management process, and control implementation projects in coordination with the service teams and Kuiper Security
• Captures and tracks information security metrics and goals for all required controls
• Develop dashboards, canaries, and alarms for all automated controls
• Clearly communicating vision, deliverables, and project status to management and key technical and business stakeholders
• Delivers recommendations and risk interpretations in a clear, concise and audience-specific format

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
- Experience with Linux/Unix
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with distributed systems at scale

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
