It’s Day 1 for Amazon’s next billion-dollar business and the Kuiper Government Solutions (KGS) business is looking for an entrepreneurial minded Cost Accounting Manager to work in a start-up environment who is passionate about technology, who thinks/acts globally, and has the ability to create and implement solutions, processes and controls with a focus on the public sector. The KGS team is focused on Government customers around the world, including U.S. DoD and other national security customers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing cost accounting principles and ensuring KGS is compliant with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) cost accounting standards. This role will be responsible for establishing the processes and procedures within KGS for managing indirect rate pools, completing annual incurred cost reporting submissions, ensuring allowability of costs included in our rate structure, preparing forward pricing rates, and billing rates. The KGS cost accountant will be responsible for management of our disclosure statement, and ensuring compliance with how we operate.


Key job responsibilities
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary
• Maintain restricted stock schedule by employee, ensuring accurate reporting of expenses within indirect rate pools
• Payment reconciliation for contingent worker charging between hours billed and hours charged in KGS timekeeping system
• Payroll reconciliation between ADP and actual labor costing rates being booked
• Liaison between CAS (SAP) and GAAP (Oracle) book of records
• Monitor employee timecard compliance
• Support Overhead pool cost tracking and compliance on a monthly basis
• Support KGS balance sheet reviews in collaboration with KGS finance and ensure proper financial statement reporting
• Coordinate monthly financial results and analysis for Orders, Revenue, Profit, and Cash for monthly financial review and forecasts. Reconcile actual results and ensure proper reporting is consistent with CAS and GAAP
• Support audits and internal control testing that supports compliance with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX)
• Reviews and approves quarterly account reconciliation of a number of general ledger accounts that include under/over absorbed Overhead costs, inventory, deferred incomes & expenses, liabilities, warranty obligations and reserves.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of multiple finance and accounting roles experience
- 5+ years of Accounts Receivable or Account Payable experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field
- Experience with senior leader level project briefings
- Ability to build strong relationships and work cross functionally (Finance, Accounting, Tax)
- Strong ability to deal with Ambiguity
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher or equivalent experience
- Must have supported or have experience with meeting US Government FAR & DFAR CAS requirements
- Export Control Requirement: Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI is a must as needed, so you must be a US citizen.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- 5+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
- MBA, or CPA
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
- Degree in Accounting
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience implementing business policies and procedures
