We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to design and build large scale, highly impactful Permissions and Access Management Systems with companywide reach. There is ample opportunity to innovate and deliver high impact outcomes.You will collaborate with the leadership team to drive key engineering and business decisions that will influence the Amazon developer experience. You will contribute to all parts of the software development and deployment lifecycle across the entire Amazon development community, including design, implementation, documentation, , deployment and operations across multiple products.
Successful candidates for this position will have strong software engineering fundamentals (object-oriented design, algorithms and data structures) and a good grasp of advanced systems concepts and design. They must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-driven and deliver high results in a fast paced environment. They need to really enjoy working closely with their peers within a group of very talented engineers.
A day in the life
A typical day in this role might involve:
- Showcasing innovative customer experiences that delight users through interactive demos. Analyzing pain points and collaborating with UX designers to translate customer needs into impactful product features.
- Developing data-driven strategies to identify and reach target customer segments. Leveraging market insights and competitive intelligence to uncover new business opportunities. Working cross-functionally to design and execute effective customer acquisition campaigns.
- Tackling ambiguous, large-scale challenges with a systematic, creative approach. Designing and implementing state-of-the-art technical solutions to complex business problems. Continuously learning and adopting best practices to drive engineering and operational excellence.
- Providing thoughtful technical guidance to the team and establishing the long-term engineering vision. Championing software engineering best practices to ensure high-quality deliverables. Mentoring and empowering team members to grow their skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Collaborating on the design, implementation, and deployment of secure, scalable internet-scale systems. Working cross-functionally with engineers, designers, product managers, and data scientists to deliver impactful projects. Identifying and implementing the most effective patterns and methods for performance, scalability, and architecture.
- The ideal candidate will have strong creative problem-solving skills for ambiguous challenges, exceptional customer focus and user experience design, technical depth to architect high-performing distributed systems, the ability to mentor cross-functional teams, and excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
