The Controls Fleet team is responsible for supporting some of Amazon's most critical infrastructure services. The Controls Fleet Operations team services customers globally, requiring the ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to different challenges.

The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of Windows server administration, networking, and virtualization. Proficiency in AWS tooling and administration is also a strong fit for this role. This position demands a solid foundation in networking principles, along with hands-on experience in hardware troubleshooting and system building.

Key job responsibilities
• Network Engineering Expertise: Proven ability to troubleshoot large-scale Layer 2 networks, configure and resolve issues at the switch level, with hands-on experience in Juniper and Cisco hardware.
• Networking Knowledge: Deep understanding of Layer 2 networking principles, including the ability to apply switch configurations and ensure network reliability.
• Innovation & Problem Solving: Strong methodology for diagnosing and resolving system failures, with a focus on effective and efficient problem-solving strategies.
• Adaptability & Multitasking: Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to shifting priorities while managing multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Windows Server Administration: Extensive experience in troubleshooting and managing Windows Server environments, including resolving hardware-related issues.
• Virtualization: Solid understanding of hypervisors and virtual machines, with experience in Hyper-V as a plus.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 2+ years of experience in building and supporting large-scale Windows server environments or managing a large number of AWS EC2 instances.
• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Technical Expertise: Proficient in Windows server administration and troubleshooting within large environments, including hardware failure resolution. Experience managing a large number of AWS EC2 Windows instances is also highly valued.
• Networking Knowledge: Strong understanding of networking principles, particularly layer two networks and network switch configurations.
• Problem-Solving and Innovation: Demonstrates effective troubleshooting skills and a methodical approach to resolving system failures.
• Versatility and Efficiency: Adaptable to shifting priorities, capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently, and experienced with hypervisors, VM's, and scripting languages.
• Cloud and Automation Skills: Familiar with AWS tools and cloud support, capable of designing straightforward cloud solutions, and knowledgeable in automation and scripting.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $74,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $188,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
