A day in the life
First and foremost this is a customer support role – in The Cloud.
• On a typical day, a Support Engineer will be primarily responsible for solving customer’s cases through a variety of customer contact channels which include telephone, email, and web/live chat. You will apply advanced troubleshooting techniques to provide tailored solutions for our customers and drive customer interactions by thoughtfully working with customers to dive deep into the root cause of an issue.
• Apart from working on a broad spectrum of technical issues, an AWS Support Engineer may also coach/mentor new hires, develop & present training, partner with development teams on complex issues or contact deflection initiatives, participate in new hiring, write tools/script to help the team, or work with leadership on process improvement and strategic initiatives.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 1+ years of software development, or 1+ years of technical support experience
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Computer Science/ Mathematics or any related field or a minimum of 1+ years of related professional and/or military experience and knowledge or experience with system administration, and troubleshooting any operating system (Linux and/or Windows) and networking (HTTP/s, TCP/IP, DNS, OSI model, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN, traceroute, iperf, dig, CURL or related). And experience with database engines: MySQL/Oracle/PostgreSQL/MariaDB/SQL Server/Amazon Aurora. Experience with database troubleshooting, administering database engines, and HA & DR topologies for databases.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Knowledge or experience with performance tuning and monitoring/alarming for production database environments.
- Knowledge of database migrations.
- Understanding and/or experience with cloud computing and security concepts with any cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Experience scripting or developing in one or more of the following languages: UNIX Shell, Python, R, Ruby, GO, Java, .NET (C#), JavaScript.
- Knowledge or experience with database troubleshooting, administering database engines, and HA & DR topologies for databases.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $71,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $158,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
