Our central Privacy team is charged with delivering strategic privacy solutions that serve a diverse array of Amazon businesses, enabling them to meet privacy obligations at scale. We are looking for a hands-on leader to support the design of and drive the governance and controls program for our central Privacy team. In this role you will demonstrate your range, traversing from the tactical to strategic as we coordinate and scale our governance capabilities across the privacy teams at Amazon. Your solutions will power continuous improvement and deliver actionable intelligence and insights to senior leaders across the company. To be successful in this role you will be a clear communicator, natural educator, and bring demonstrated ability to drive cross-organizational initiatives in privacy with solutions grounded in data, even in ambiguous spaces.

Key job responsibilities
• Work closely with legal partners to support preparation of regulatory responses, coordinating cross-teams to ensure timeliness and accuracy in response and developing clear and concise narratives and correspondence.

• Maintain a strong understanding of privacy principles, and related regulatory expectations. Periodically calibrate program capabilities against industry standards, regulatory trends, and customer expectations.

• Provide program support for privacy owned services which includes drafting of guidelines and standards on best practices and driving business reviews.


A day in the life
This role requires Privacy thought leaders that love Privacy and solving complex problems with a large and diverse set of colleagues. You will own privacy policies and will work with legal, program and technical teams to understand issues and develop solutions. You will then prioritize and drive key initiatives across Amazon, creating clear and simple guidance and identifying the in-scope stakeholders and necessary compliance tools, including creating and executing action plans while reporting to executive management on progress.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor's degree in Business or Technology, or equivalent experience in technology companies.
* 10+ years of Privacy, compliance or risk management experience.
* Experience managing compliance to privacy-focused regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, and COPPA.
* Strong knowledge of risk management methods and industry best practices.
* Analytical decision making with a demonstrated ability to problem solve, make decisions in complex situations and drive issues to completion.
* Ability to communicate effectively across internal and external organizations, with both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Strong understanding of data processing environments, service oriented architectures, cloud computing technologies and relevant security and privacy standards.
* Mechanism-driven approach to distilling strategy into action plans and driving stakeholders to a common goal.
* Ability to take ownership, self-motivate, and deliver results in ambiguous environments.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to executives.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in business or technology

Professional certification in Privacy (CISM, CIPP, etc).

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $107,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
