You will drive risk assessments, escalations, and mitigation strategies across a diverse group of partners and risk disciplines, playing a vital role in ensuring that Amazon complies with global legal and compliance requirements. You will join a team that partners across Amazon businesses to shape the future of Amazon’s evolving risk and compliance programs and where we value ownership, insight, intellectual flexibility, and sound business judgment. You will partner with critical stakeholders in delivering metrics and narrative inputs to various external compliance and risk assessment reports that span numerous Amazon businesses.
Key job responsibilities
1. Risk Assessment and Analysis
• Perform thorough risk assessments against existing policies, controls, and products
• Dive deep into the control environment and understand the effectiveness of design and operations.
• Support the identification and mapping of controls for Privacy and related areas.
• Review controls documentation and probability evidence, identify control issues and follow-up on remediation actions
• Identify and develop appropriate data sources and elements which contribute to risk-based assessments.
• Analyze complex data and IT/technology systems, providing actionable insights and recommendations
• Develop and maintain key risk indicators (KRIs) for continuous monitoring and oversight
• Facilitate development of mechanisms and policies such as risk registers, risk appetite statements, and other insights for partners and stakeholders.
2. Communication and Reporting:
• Prepare clear, concise, and professional risk/compliance reports and presentations
• Facilitate discussions on risk/compliance outcomes and corrective actions with stakeholders
• Develop detailed end to end working backwards plans to deliver against compliance deadlines, including
external risk and compliance reports on behalf of several Amazon businesses.
3. Stakeholder Management and Collaboration:
• Build and manage partnerships with internal business stakeholders. Manage relationship and engagements with external auditors.
• Act as a trusted advisor to business units on risk management and control practices.
• Coach non-risk/compliance professionals on key elements of Risk management best practices.
4. Professional Development/Leadership:
• Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging trends in auditing, compliance, and privacy
• Mentor Privacy Services team members on Privacy Compliance and contribute to the overall growth of the audit and assurance function
• Participate in relevant professional organizations and continuing education opportunities
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
6+ years of compliance, audit or risk management experience
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• 6+ years of experience assessing complex systems, complex data, IT Operations or advising on the implementation of Privacy regulations
• Experience managing, analyzing and communicating compliance initiatives to management and senior leadership
• Experience owning compliance projects and end to end delivery
• Experience with data analytics, process improvement and automation enhancement projects
• Proven ability to work with high levels of ambiguity
• Experience partnering with and influencing cross-functional teams
• Experience in managing a diverse set of stakeholders
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Relevant certifications (CISA, CIPP, CIPM, CIPT, CDPSE, PECB, CDP)
• Proven history of analyzing data, metrics, and situations to identify meaningful observations and drive improvements
• Experience with GRC and data analytic tools
• Experience or knowledge of privacy regulations
• Experience with process improvement, Kaizen, and six sigma.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $122,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,400/year in our highest geographic market.
