Key job responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs laws, and government policies.
- Work with the Amazon internal Global Trade Services Teams (GTS).
- Monitor and manage the proper filing of import/export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
- Stay updated on changes in global trade regulations and communicate impacts to stakeholders.

Logistics Coordination
- Oversee the transportation of goods across international borders, including selecting and managing freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers.
- Optimize routes, shipping methods, and carriers to minimize costs while maintaining service quality.
- Manage delays, disruptions, or issues in transit and implement solutions quickly.

Customs Management
- Coordinate customs clearance processes for imports and exports, ensuring accuracy in tariff classifications, duties, and taxes.
- Resolve disputes with customs authorities and prepare appeals if necessary.
- Assist in valuations of products.

Supplier and Vendor Management
- Build and maintain relationships with third-party logistics providers, customs brokers, and freight forwarders.
- Negotiate contracts, rates, and terms with service providers to ensure cost-effective and reliable services.

Inventory and Warehouse Oversight
- Coordinate with warehousing teams to ensure smooth inbound and outbound freight handling.
- Manage inventory flow to avoid delays in shipment and ensure timely delivery to customers or facilities.

Cost Management
- Track and control logistics and shipping costs, seeking opportunities for cost savings.
- Examine freight spend and implement measures to improve efficiency and reduce overhead.

Risk Management
- Identify and mitigate risks related to international shipping, such as trade embargoes, sanctions, and geopolitical issues.
- Audit import/export documentation for errors or compliance risks.
- Protect Amazon from all risks.

Stakeholder Communication
- Collaborate with internal teams such as procurement, sales, ops, and supply chain to align shipping plans with business needs.
- Provide timely updates on shipment statuses, delays, or changes to stakeholders.

Process Improvement
- Inspect shipping processes and identify areas for operational improvement.
- Implement technology or tools to enhance efficiency, tracking, and compliance.

Performance Metrics
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery rates, freight cost per unit, and customs clearance times.
- Prepare reports and dashboards for management to provide insights on global logistics performance.
- Participate in Weekly/Monthly/Quarterly Business Reviews and vendor score-carding to ensure adherence to cost and business objectives.

About the team
Global Transportation and Logistics (GTL)

Our mission is to deliver what our customers need, where they need it, when they need it. Global Transportation and Logistics (GTL) is dedicated to understanding customer expectations and identifying opportunities that enhance customer experience. We are a vital part of the OpsTech IT Supply Chain (SC) that, plans, sources, makes and delivers the IT equipment necessary to empower Amazon’s Worldwide Consumer Business. Supply Chain responsibilities include forecasting, capital planning, risk management, sourcing, order processing, scheduling, warehousing, assembly, provisioning, transportation, repair, replacement and disposal of IT equipment.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of program or project management experience
- 3+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience
- 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience
- 3+ years of supply chain, forecasting, manufacturing, sourcing/procurement, or vendor management experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL
- Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
- Proven experience managing customs compliance and regulatory requirements across multiple regions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience
- 3+ years of driving process improvements experience
- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
- Experience building processes, project management, and schedules
- Deep understanding of global trade regulations, including Incoterms, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), and Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). Familiarity with customs clearance procedures, duty drawback programs, and global regulatory requirements such as C-TPAT, ISF, and AES filings.
