This position is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of import trade compliance for Amazon's Canadian (CA) operations. The role focuses on import trade compliance, regulatory contacts, customs broker management, cross-border troubleshooting, exceptions handling, and interactions with Canadian Trade Regulators.
Key job responsibilities
1. Import Trade Compliance:
o Ensure full compliance with Canadian import regulations and customs requirements
o Develop and implement import compliance strategies and procedures
o Stay up-to-date with changes in Canadian trade laws and regulations
o Conduct regular audits to maintain compliance standards
2. Regulatory Contacts:
o Serve as the primary point of contact for Trade related government agencies
o Lead communications and negotiations with regulators
o Prepare and present documentation for audits and inquiries
3. Customs Broker Management:
o Oversee and evaluate the performance of customs brokers
o Ensure accurate and timely customs clearance for all imports
o Collaborate with brokers to resolve complex customs issues
4. Cross-Border Troubleshooting:
o Identify and resolve import-related challenges and bottlenecks
o Develop strategies to streamline cross-border operations and reduce delays
o Manage and resolve complex import cases and exceptions
o Develop standard operating procedures for handling non-routine import situations
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience in program or project management
- Experience in program requirements definition, together with data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of program requirements definition and data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements experience
- Professional auditing qualification, or similar risk or compliance credentials
- Experience with SQL and Excel
